Road Freight

Road freight pricing depends on factors such as distance, cargo size and weight, vehicle type, loading and offloading requirements, fuel, tolls, waiting time, special equipment, route, permits, and whether the cargo is local or cross-border.

Cargo readiness affects collection, booking, delivery timing, and cut-off times. If cargo is not ready when the transporter arrives, waiting time, cancellation fees, rebooking costs, or missed port, depot, border, or delivery cut-offs may apply.

Road freight does not automatically mean the goods are fully insured. Transporter liability is often limited, so separate marine, goods-in-transit, or cargo insurance may be recommended depending on the value and nature of the shipment.

Cross-border road freight may involve customs documents, border clearance, permits, duties, VAT, road permits, cargo inspections, and requirements from both the country of export and the country of import. Delays can occur if documents are incomplete, permits are missing, or border processes take longer than expected.
